We know more about Mars than we know about the seafloor. Because flora and fauna play a crucial role for our climate and are a large food and job provider we need innovative technology to monitor their health. PlanBlue, a company from Bremen, has developed a pioneering solution: combining underwater satellites with an analysis software. This technology maps the seafloor in great detail and can use artificial intelligence to identify features such as types of vegetation or pollution. PlanBlue has now received a the prestigious Geospatial World Forum Technology Innovation Award for the development of this underwater satellite. In addition, the company will now receive a competitive grant from the European Innovation Council.
